Angus Watkins is a visual artist based in Wilyabrup, in the deep southwest of Western Australia within the Margaret River wine region. Working primarily in charcoal and drawing, he creates imaginative objects, figures and landscapes through a distinctive language of expressive marks.

He has a penchant for humour best described as absurd and is deeply fascinated by history, philosophy and semiotics. In essence, he is driven by a desire to create something that feels new, something never seen before, and is as enamoured by the philosophical process of creating as by what can ultimately be created. Beyond art, he is driven by a need to understand the world.
